How long is a counseling session? Each individual counseling session lasts 50 minutes. Marriage counseling lasts an hour. In counseling young children, sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 50 minutes.
How long will counseling last? How often will we meet? These questions vary depending on the needs of the client. If clients are in a crisis situation, we can meet every week. As their situation improves, we can go to twice a month, monthly, and in some cases, do maintenance on a quarterly basis. Counseling will last as long as the client needs in order to accomplish their goal. Counseling can be ended by the client at any time.
Does couples counseling really work? It's best to get help before the situation spirals out of control, but if both individuals are committed to making the marriage work, and care about each other, the relationship can improve. If there is an abcense of a committment, then we can try different techniques, such as separation. Many times, couples counseling turns into divorce counseling in order to work out the divorce in a amicable way. We then discuss issues that will keep the children's best interests in the forefront.
Do you provide supervision for LLPCs? Yes I do, for the reasonable fee of $45.
What is your fee structure? The rate for counseling at the Self Center, LLC is $70. For those who cannot afford that fee, I will negotiate a fee that will not be a barrier to receiving counseling. No one should be denied counseling because of financial reasons.
